What is Prayer?
Prayer is spending time with God. Prayer is talking with God, the creator of the universe. Prayer is a powerful weapon that increases faith and will steer you in the right direction. Prayer is what changed my life and is changing my life. Prayer gives us added strength to face the situations, tribulations, hardships, and trails we will face in life. Prayer gives us hope. Prayer renews our minds and aligns our spirit (inner-self) with the word of God. It is noted in Luke 22:40, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." Jesus knew that we would need prayer to keep us sane and on the right track as believers in him. Prayer is simply communicating with God. You have probably heard, "pray without ceasing", "man are to always pray and not faint", these are two quotes that I have added to my daily life as I face temptations. In my personal prayer closet, I come to pray, talk with God and I bring him all of my cares, worries, problems and I lay them on his alter and leave them there. This is not always easy because of our human nature of worry however, I am reminded to be anxious for nothing but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, to present my request to God. In doing so his word tells me that his peace, God's peace, which transcends all understanding (that in which I may not understand) will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7). Prayer gives us peace and increases our faith. There is so much "topics of discussion" about prayer but as I write to encourage and inspire you, I write to encourage, inspire and sustain myself.
